DR. BUNNING VOLUNTEERS AT NON-PROFIT RAM EVENT
From May 1-3, Dr. Jeffrey Bunning volunteered his time and eye care expertise at Remote Area Medical’s (RAM) most recent non-profit event at the Bristol Motor Speedway.
RAM is a charity that provides completely free, high-quality dental, vision, and medical care to the underserved throughout the US and across the globe. With a philosophy centered on bringing people together to address community issues, RAM and its volunteers, like Dr. Bunning, reach out to those who are impoverished and isolated, offering competent and compassionate healthcare free of charge to those who need it the most.

DR. ARMSTRONG LOOKS INTO NEWEST EYE CARE ADVANCES AT ACES MEETING
On February 2-6, 2015, Dr. Joseph R. Armstrong attended the American College of Eye Surgeons (ACES) meeting, where eye surgeons from around the world gather to discuss the latest advancements in eye care.
The sole purpose behind these meetings is to "foster an emphasis on quality surgical care in ophthalmology." By attending ACES, Dr. Armstrong and his fellow Mountain Empire Eye Physicians take advantage of the opportunity to converse one-on-one with other thought leaders in their field, allowing them to constantly develop and add to their surgical skill as well as seek out and adopt the newest and most effective eye care techniques, treatments, and technologies for their patients in the Tri-City area.
DR. HICKS VOLUNTEERS AT WELLMONT'S 19TH ANNUAL DIABETES EXPO
On November 1, 2014, Dr. Joshua A. Hicks volunteered his services for the third time at the Wellmont Hospital Diabetes Expo.
This annual event at the Bristol Regional Medical Center offers diabetic health and education opportunities for people struggling with the disease. Alongside other diabetes care specialists offering free screenings, Dr. Hicks provided eye evaluations at the event.
In addition to a 30-minute question-and-answer session hosted by the Diabetes Treatment Centers' clinical staff (including registered nurses, registered dietians, and certified diabetes educators), the event included three educational presenters, a medical sharps drop-off (or a safe container for lancets, syringes, and needles), and access to a variety of vendors that lined the Conference Center.
